Privacy policy

Private by design

Effective August 19, 2026

This policy explains how Auto Tally handles information in version 1.5. The app is designed as an account-free, local vehicle ledger.

Information the developer collects

Auto Tally does not create an account, operate an app backend, collect personal information, sell data, track users, or include third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

Information stored on your device

Vehicle details, service records, fuel entries, odometer readings, costs, notes, due dates, reminder settings, and ownership-planning assumptions are stored locally in the app's UserDefaults container. The developer does not receive this content.

Exports, backups, restores, and sharing

Auto Tally can generate a PDF dossier, text summary, CSV files, a shop-handoff brief, and a complete backup. A file or text leaves the app only when you deliberately use an Apple system share or file control. The privacy practices of the destination you select are governed by that destination. Restoring a backup reads only the file you choose.

Notifications

Auto Tally requests notification permission only after you choose to schedule a service reminder. Reminders are scheduled locally by iOS or iPadOS. The app does not use remote push notifications.

Device permissions

Auto Tally does not request access to the camera, photo library, microphone, contacts, location, health data, motion data, Bluetooth, or local network. Export and import actions use standard Apple system interfaces selected by you.

Apple diagnostics

Apple may provide developers with aggregated crash or usage diagnostics when a device owner has chosen to share analytics with app developers. Apple controls that collection and its privacy terms. Auto Tally does not add its own analytics service.

Data deletion

Use Clear garage in Settings to remove local vehicle, service, fuel, and odometer data from the app. Uninstalling the app also removes its local container. Files you previously exported must be deleted from their saved destinations separately.

Children

Auto Tally is a general-audience utility and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Changes to this policy

Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date and reflected in App Store metadata when required.
